The Domino’s sponsored Manta Rays Youth Soccer Club wrapped up its 2017 season by hosting an inaugural soccer tournament. Officials invited a total of ten clubs from the Bahamas Football Association to participate in the event.

An estimated 400 players showcased their talents to a full audience at the St. Paul's The Apostle Catholic Church playing field. In addition to serving as the official event sponsor, Domino’s helped to organize the tournament and provided pizza for all participants.

“The Manta Rays continue to exhibit good sportsmanship and determination on and off the field. Hosting the tournament was the perfect way to close out a successful season,” said Shirlen Godet, Domino’s Brand Manager. “This is our third consecutive season sponsoring the club and we want to congratulate all of the players and coaches on this inaugural event.”

Each season, Domino’s assists with uniforms and equipment for more than 125 of the Manta Rays’ players. This year, the franchise also donated new soccer balls to the club.

Greg Walker, the team’s Sponsorship Director, described the overall event as a huge success and a great opportunity for players, coaches and parents to share in a family-friendly activity. He thanked Domino’s for its ongoing support of the program.

“Our partnership with Domino’s continues to grow. This year, they increased support by providing the club with soccer balls and now have sponsored our first tournament.  It was a fabulous success. We would like to thank all the volunteers, players, parents coaches and referees that came together to make it a memorable day,” Walker said.

At the tournament, more than 80 games were played with teams from various age groups battling for the top spot. The under 10 finals between the Manta Rays and the Tottenham Hotspurs, saw the tournament hosts winning with a penalty kick. The Baha Jr’s took the under 6 division and the Tambearly Titans won the title in the under 8 division.
