Dr Nicola Virgill-Rolle to address The Bahamas Press Club monthly meeting on the National Development Plan

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Dr Nicola Virgill-Rolle, the Lead for the Government on the National Development Plan: Vision 2040, will address the monthly meeting of The Bahamas Press Club on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in the Sir Harry Oakes Boardroom at the British Colonial Hilton at 6:30pm.

The National Development Plan is being touted by the Rt Hon Perry Christie, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, as vital to the further development of the country.

According to The National Development Plan Secretariat, it will provide a roadmap for the future development of The Bahamas. The Plan will also include a comprehensive policy framework that will guide Government decision-making and investment over the next 25 years.

The Plan is an initiative of the Government of The Bahamas, developed in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank and in close cooperation with the College of The Bahamas, and The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation. The Plan will be guided by extensive research, analysis and widespread public consultation aimed at addressing four main policy pillars:the Economy, Governance, Social Policy and Environment (Natural and Built)

Dr. Virgill-Rolle is the Director of National Development and Planning in the Office of the Prime Minister where she leads of team of professionals with responsibility for strategic planning, including the National Development Plan, an Ecosystem Services Master Plan for Andros anda Sustainable Master Plan for the City of Nassau.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Public Policy from George Mason University. Dr. Rolle also holds a Master of Science Degree in Political Economy of Development from the University of London (SOAS), a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Vassar College and an Associate of Arts Degree in Accounting from the College of The Bahamas.
