NASSAU,Bahamas - In an effort to encourage student engagement in mathematics, Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd. (CWCO) has again sponsored the S.C. McPherson Junior High School’s Interschool Mathematics Competition, now going into its 5th year. The competition, will be held April 28th, and will include all of the government junior high schools, with last year’s champion C.H. Reeves returning to defend its title.

“Sponsorship is crucial as it helps us with preparation and allows us to offer substantial prizes to encourage the students,” said Kiffany Daxon, Maths Teacher at S.C. McPherson and coordinator of the Competition. “You tend to see kids favouring other subjects over maths so we are happy to have an event where the kids can get excited about the subject and showcase the importance of maths. Kids love to compete and it gives them a chance to see what other schools are doing in maths and to showcase their skills and we have seen a very positive response from the students.”
