Nassau, Bahamas - From the bay at Arawak Cay. This year was the 3rd annual Festival of Lights held in the bay of Nassau, off Arawak Cay. Celebrating the holiday season, a variety of boats participate in this annual Christmas season favourite where boats decorate with holiday lights. The spectacle is enjoyed by onlookers from the land as well as from the many visiting cruise ships in the Nassau Harbour.
Fireworks Unlimited sponsored a fireworks display, and
the Frankie Gone Bananas Festival of Lights
Christmas Village was a hive of activity with a Junkanoo rush-out by the
Valley, and the rake 'n scrape "Conch Salad" band played all night. They provided great
food and drinks, photos with Santa and creative face painting.
On hand for the festivities was the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Rt Hon Perry Christie; the Bahamas Minister of Tourism, the Rt Hon Obie Wilchcombe; and leader of the opposition, the Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis.
The event is organized by Janet Johnson.
