Fox Hill, Nassau, Bahamas -  The Hon. Fred Mitchell, MP for Fox Hill attended the Ecumenical service and flag raising ceremony to mark The Bahamas 41st Independence. The Rev. J. Carl Rahming delivered the independence message during the ecumenical service. This public event took place at Fox Hill's Freedom Park on Friday, 25th July 2014 at 7pm.

The following are remarks delivered by MP Fred Mitchell:

This is the time when we in this community again commit ourselves to building our country with our own hands.

Tonight is a time for reflection on all the things that we have built; about the people who helped to construct our community, including those four people who died. Even though they were young, each in their own way contributed to the building up of the common life.

I ask you therefore to continue to do the things that make for peace and build up the common life.

Since that time in 2005, we have seen many changes in Fox Hill. Many have passed on. We miss them but we know that we will continue to do their work.

It remains then for me to thank the Rev. J Carl Rahming and the Pastors of Fox Hill for their contribution to the common life of Fox Hill. Without the church, I do not know where we would be.
