GBPC informs the public on 12 Million Dollar Transmission Upgrade‏

Tuesday night the Grand Bahama Power Company held an Informational night to go over the West End Transmission Line Upgrade. Held at the EMR High School Auditorium a small group of residents turned out to learn more. Residents were informed about the plans to start construction on the 12 Million dollar project, the planned route, power upgrades and possible employment opportunities. King Explains the GBPC / Ginn sur Mer Transmission Line Upgrade to residents Pictured is Derick King, GBPC Director of Transmissions and Distribution, who spoke on behalf of the power company and explained to residents the company's plans to start construction on the 12 Million dollar transmission upgrade from their plant to West End, Ginn sur Mer / Old Bahama Bay. During a 30 minute power point presentation, King, explained the process that lead to the planned route, how the citizens will directly benefit from the power upgrades and possible employment opportunities for locals. GBPC/ Ginn sur Mer ready to start building new line Derick King, GBPC Director of Transmissions and Distribution, and Derek Gape, Ginn sur Mer Project Manager, were both on hand to answer questions from residents at the Informational night to go over the West End Transmission Line Upgrade. They are pictured in front of topographic maps showing the route of the new line, which follows the existing power line, but will upgrade residents from 5mhw to 69mhw. Giving residents more power than they have ever had and the West of the island access to more power than Atlantis.
