On Monday, October 1st, 2018 Romalia’s Townhouse presented its second annual Legacy Scholarship to Caseia Greene an 11th grade student at the Harbour Island All Age School. She was also presented with a new Asus laptop and backpack with school supplies. Alexandria Darville, Caseia’s mother joined her to accept the award. Caseia was presented the award for her outstanding academic and civic accomplishments attained thus far. She was encouraged to continue to explore, learn, discover who she is and what she likes and to own it and succeed at it. She was wished continued success throughout her remaining high school years and the Romalia’s Townhouse team looks forward to hearing great things about her future accomplishments.

Caseia  is 15 years old and wants to become a surgical nurse and a veterinarian. Her favorite subjects are Math, Biology, Art and History. Some of her accomplishments include the principal’s list and honor roll, top student of her class, seven BJC’s and elected prefect for this school year 2018/ 2019.  In addition to learning, Caseia likes to explore, read, sketch and swim during her free time.  She is involved in the Leadership Club, the Governor General Youth Award, Art‘s club and the volleyball team. Through her hard work and determination, Caseia has proven to be a student that Romalia's Townhouse and the Harbour Island All Age School wanted to recognize and encourage to continue her educational effort.

The Romalia's Townhouse Legacy Scholarship is given in memory of Romalia Bethel Albury, whom the townhouse vacation rental is named after.  She was an educator from the age of 14 years old and taught in both the public and Catholic schools in Harbour Island. In her late 80's she retired from teaching at St. Thomas More Primary Catholic school in Nassau. Her love for family and our country’s youth extended beyond academics in the classroom as she taught piano lessons at her home. Her strong commitment of faith kept her family together.

Romalia is the grandmother of the owner of Romalia's Townhouse, Lorette Nixon-Soudatt.  Joining Mrs. Nixon-Soudatt for the presentation were her husband, Marlon Soudatt, her mother Regina Abury Johnson, her aunt Sister Cecilia Albury, OSB and cousins Ethan Fairweather and Tina Neilly. Also present were Kevin Hepburn, Principal, Faculty, Staff and Students of the Harbour Island All Age School. Absent from the Romalia's Townhouse team were Cranson Johnson, Director of Sales and Marketing, Joy Higgs, Property Manager and Grand Aunt Barbara Bethel Johnson.

In addition to presenting its second Legacy Scholarship, Romalia's Townhouse also gave the entire 11th grade students backpacks filled with basic learning tools to help build their confidence and encourage them to be successful in school. Mrs. Nixon-Soudatt stated that during the school years it might seem like life is full of tests, questions, grades, parents and pressure however she told the students to take each day and each moment at a time. She encouraged them to believe in themselves especially when things are not easy. Even if you do a little better than you’ve done before, you are a winner she said. It is a great feeling to be number one, but it is equally a great feeling to succeed and to win even when you are not number one.  Special thanks to Christina Brooks Alicea and family for their contribution to the schoolbag program.
