The Grand Bahama community recently witnessed first hand the revolutionary breakthrough of the services of Caribbean Pavement Solutions (CPS) in Grand Bahama, which included the resurfacing and striping of the Kelly's parking lot and the roundabout on the East Sunrise highway.

Caribbean Pavement Solutions (CPS) celebrated its official launch on Friday evening at the Pelican Bay among construction, and business leaders in the country's second capital.

CPS, a subsidiary of Bahamas Striping Group of Companies, is an example of the company’s commitment to the rehabilitation, and preservation of road infrastructure. The company provides two innovative and eco-friendly products that repair pot holes for a tropical climate, as well as Rejuvenate, which is a modern effective pavement sealer that revives asphalt by preserving and preventing degradation from weather, water, and other elements, as well as asphalt maintenance services.

Mr. Dillon Knowles, First Vice President of The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce welcomed CPS, and its President, Atario Mitchell to Grand Bahama.

He indicated that he was particularly pleased that Mr. Mitchell chose Grand Bahama to launch CPS and all that comes with exploring new economic ventures.

"Mr. Mitchell has demonstrated that in an effort to spur economic growth, development, and success you cannot continue to do business as usual. Instead, you must now think of doing business unusually. Perhaps Mr. Mitchell has an appreciation for the formula that will make commerce on Grand Bahama advantageous for him and other entrepreneurs."

Mr. Knowles added that the Chamber believes that companies that invest and provide jobs will grow expeditiously in Grand Bahama and they look forward to  working with CPS.

Many businesses and residents have been urging for road improvements.

Mr. Mitchell indicated that a part of his success is due to not thinking outside the box, but removing the box from his thinking process. Funding for capital was not always easy, and in order to establish CPS, he procured funding from the Bahamas Venture Fund to obtain equipment.

"I believe that my creative and innovative approach  is an element that I bring to the table as a new generation of young Bahamian entrepreneurs which assists to further advance the economy, and it creates new business models."

Mr. Mitchell announced that the Bahamas Striping Group of Companies has reaffirmed its commitment to road maintenance and its networks along with airport runway maintenance through its Private Public Partnership of fifty million dollars which as recently received approval from The Ministry of Finance.

“This means that we will have the ability to generate over 700 jobs over a three-year period and it will enhance the safety of our aviation infrastructure, and roads throughout ten family islands,” said Mitchell.

Strong commitment to innovation in daily practice is needed throughout Grand Bahama and The Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) believes in promoting entrepreneurs.

Mr. Ian Rolle, President of The Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) stated that

Atario and his team are young, adventurous, and unconventional and they have managed to take their vision from opportunity to operation.

"The GPPA is convinced that this rapidly growing group of companies will be a welcomed injection to our steadily rebounding economy, as we are dedicated to assisting in the growth of domestic investment in the Grand Bahama community. Additionally, we are committed to empowering small businesses and positioning the people of Grand Bahama to great opportunity and success,” said Rolle.

The growth and development of The Bahamas, its all about young people and creating entrepreneurs as national assets.

The Hon. Michael Darville, Minister of Grand Bahama, encouraged Mr. Mitchell to continue living the Bahamian dream of being an entrepreneur. He added that when Atario launched Bahamas Striping, foreigners believed in his dream and far too often, Bahamians are not implementing the necessary mechanisms a young entrepreneur needs to grow and succeed.

He stated that young persons are the ones affected by unemployment and urged them to not think about just a job but to develop an entrepreneurial spirit and make their dreams coming true.
