Nassau, Bahamas - The following is a press statement from the Rt Hon Hubert A Ingraham, Prime Minister of The Bahamas on Gratitude for the Life of Brenville “Bulla” Hanna.
I was saddened
to learn of the death today of Mr. Brenville “Bulla” Hanna, a devoted
son and citizen of The Bahamas, faithful FNM and friend to many.
On behalf of my colleagues in Government and the Free National Movement,
and on my own behalf and that of my wife, I extend condolences to the
family and friends of one who will be greatly missed.
“Bulla”
Hanna loved his country and contributed to its development in the realms
of business, politics and culture. A banker for many years, he
was also a Junkanoo enthusiast and a frontline politician, political
strategist and ardent campaigner for what he believed.
Formerly Chairman
of the PLP, he served on the Executive of the FNM and was the candidate
for Englerston in 1992, helping to bring the Party to office that year.
Though unsuccessful in that bid, he played a major role in the FNM’s
victory and continued success in office.
In addition
to “Bulla’s” many contributions to national life, he will be remembered
for his warmth and generosity. Moreover, he taught us in the way
he lived and the manner in which he departed this life, how to appreciate
the gift of life, with generosity and equanimity.
The FNM joins
with his family, numerous friends and colleagues in saluting such a
fine spirit and expressing thanksgiving for a life well lived.
His example will continue to inspire, and is a reminder to all of us
to live graciously, with generosity and gratitude.
