Nassau, The Bahamas -  While St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated worldwide, its origin lies in the beautiful country of Ireland, the Emerald Isle, and began as a day to honour Ireland’s patron saint - St. Patrick. This year, the Irish Bahamian Association decided to commemorate Paddy’s Day in a particularly special way by making charitable donations to two local community-based, non-profit organisations: The Bahamas Association for Social Health (BASH) and Hands for Hunger.

Representatives from both organisations expressed sincere appreciation for the unexpected monetary donations from the Irish Bahamian Association. Association spokesperson, Brian Crick, explained that both organizations have outstanding reputations and a history of providing valuable services, making tangible differences in the Bahamian community. He added that the donations are funded by the Association’s participation at the annual International Culture Fair.

Helen Davis, longstanding member of the Association added, “For many years, the Irish Bahamian Association has been giving back to the community that we now call home. We remain commiQed to spreading Irish cheer and making positive differences wherever we can.”
