Lyford Cay International School’s (LCIS) 18th Annual Fun Run was another tremendous success thanks to the support of LCIS families, friends and local businesses who served as corporate sponsors. The non-profit international school met its fundraising goal for the event, with $30,000 in donations raised. “The success of this event has not only shown the enduring generosity of our school community, but also the depth of our connectedness,” said LCIS Principal Mr David Mindorff.

In accordance with physical distancing protocols and to ensure the safety of the community, participants were able to take part in the run anywhere they were on the island or around the world. Unlike in past years, this year’s Fun Run saw parents, teachers, students and friends of the School walking in their own neighbourhoods, along the beach, or even on their treadmills at home.

Participants sent in many photos and videos of themselves wearing their T-shirts and walking with their families. Submissions came from as far away as Europe.

Traditionally, the Annual Fun Run takes place within the historic community of Lyford Cay where LCIS’s Lower School campus is located. Prior to the necessary health restrictions introduced earlier this year, there were plans for the run to begin at LCIS’s new Upper School campus, located just outside of the community next to St Paul’s Church. Construction of the Upper School campus is nearing completion, and students will begin learning in the new, state-of-the-art facilities in January 2021.

All funds raised from the Fun Run will go towards the LCIS Annual Fund, which supports the School’s robust scholarship programme for Bahamian students and allows the School to make improvements to its facilities that benefit all students.

The School is extremely thankful for its sponsors who showed their support during what has been a challenging year. This year’s Fun Run was generously sponsored by RBC Capital Markets, SunTee, RUBiS Bahamas Limited, Klonaris & Co, Nature’s Way Landscaping, Bahamas Hot Mix, Woslee Construction, Oasis Bahamas, New Providence Development Company, New Providence Water Development Company, the Lyford Cay Club, 700 Wines & Spirits, JS Johnson, Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty, Transformations Landscape Development Ltd, Albany, Thompson Trading, and Kelly’s House and Home.
