Local AKA Chapter Sorority Members take on International Posts

The Eta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated continues to trail blaze within the international region and the sorority at large as six local members are appointed to international committees.

On the heels of the chapter's 50th anniversary, and the 66th International Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina the following members were acknowledged and appointed to international committees by the 29th International President Mrs. Dorothy Buchanan-Wilson who also introduced a new platform “Launching New Dimensions of Service”.

Mrs. Mavis Johnson-Collie - Chairman of the International Archives Committee, a Life Member and Silver Star of the sorority, former president of the Eta Psi Omega Chapter. Johnson-Collie has served as the first member from the international region to be appointed to international committees and an elected member to the International nominating committee. She previously served as the International Region's Representative to the Connections Committee, the Advocacy arm of the organization.

Ms. Presleith McPhee - The International Membership Committee also a Life Member and Silver Star of the sorority. She is also a former president of the Eta Psi Omega Chapter, and also served as Parliamentarian to the National PanHellenic Association.

Mrs. JoyAnne Archer - International Connections Committee and is the immediate past president of the Eta Psi Omega Chapter, has also served on the International committee and Chairman of the Centennial International Region Gala. International Representative for Membership and Programs.

Mrs. Bethsheba Wright-Gibbs – International Investigation and Evaluation Team

Ms. Saynia Webb -International Evaluation and Investigation Team, currently serves as the Parliamentarian of Eta Psi Omega Chapter. Webb has also served as Recording Secretary and standards chairperson and as an international regional conference delegate for the chapter.

Ms. Alana Ingraham- Executive Assistant to the International Regional Director who serves as the current president of the Eta Psi Omega Chapter. Alana has also served as 1st Vice President of Eta Psi Omega Chapter, 2nd Vice President of Eta Psi Omega Chapter, Programs Chair, Connections Chair, International Regional Conference Delegate, Boule Delegate, and 2013 International Regional Conference Rules Committee Chairman and has served on numerous committees.

Ms. Mavis Johnson-Collie says she is humbled to have been asked and see it as an opportunity to demonstrate that members of the International Region are an integral fiber of the organization and are as passionate about their commitment to service and when given the opportunity, to lead. Johnson-Collie was selected, to serve as chairman of the International Archives Committee. In this position, Johnson-Collie leads a committee of representatives from each of the ten regions and together they are charged with the awesome task of advancing the procurement of and use of the organization's 106 years of documents and artifacts; the most significant of which are stored at the Moorland-Spingard Research Centre at Howard University in Washington DC. This appointment is a first for the chapter and the region.

The region has been recognized over the years for its outstanding participation and service through the appointment of its members to serve on international committees.

As a member of the team I will work along with other members to ensure that chapters and members of the Sorority are operating effectively as outlined in the Sorority ' s documents. Our continued success relies upon our adherence to rules and regulations that we as an organizational body has deemed that we be guided by. The knowledge that I will gain by being a member of the I Team & E Team will be integral in advancing the procedural
