'Breathe Easy' Campaign reached its final goal

Nassau, Bahamas - The “Breathe Easy Campaign” benefiting the Princess Margaret Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit reached its goal mark with donations from proceeds from Marathon Bahamas and the Poop Deck Eagles Golf Club. Earmarked for high risk, premature, critically ill newborns, the “Breathe Easy Campaign” was a nationwide fund-raiser that provided six ventilators and two incubators for newborns who are physically unable to breathe.
The final donations for the campaign were from the Poop Deck Eagles in the amount of $4,500 whose golf proceeds went to support this worthy cause. Proceeds from Marathon Bahamas and Sunshine Insurance also made a donation in the amount of $2,500 to benefit this life-saving initiative. Both community minded organizations presented checks at the Princess Margaret Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to Dr. Robin Roberts of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

As stated by Michele Rassin, Chairperson for the Breathe Easy Campaign "These meaningful donations to the Breathe Easy Campaign enabled us to reach are target goal of raising over $300,000 for ventilators and incubators for PMH's NICU. We wanted to thank the hundreds of supporters who contributed to this campaign, their generous donations made it a success. We especially wanted to thank those persons who donated funds in memory of Roger Carron and Thelma Boissiere. We are elighted we were able to reach our goal to be able to provide funds for these infants who can now take their first breathe. These donations will save the lives of hundreds of premature babies who would be unable to breathe without the assistance of these ventilators. We would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to all of the donors who have contributed to this life-saving campaign."

Organized by the Tribune Media Group, the Princess Margaret Hospital, Tile King, Doctors Hospital, and the Rotary Club of East Nassau, the campaign successfully reached its goal with over $300,000 raised to benefit critically ill newborns. Using the funds that were allocated, six ventilators and two incubators have been purchased for the Princess Margaret Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. As resources are still
needed for the Princess Margaret Hospital, persons interested in making a donation can contact the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
