NASSAU, Bahamas – Cancer survivor Erin Brown recently tied the knot with the love of her life, Leslie Tametryo Brown at the Atlantis Paradise Island.

The bride, who battled bone cancer, lost a child and dealt with life’s curve balls, sauntered down the aisle with the sun rising in the background. Seventy - five guests turned out to witness the early morning nuptials, which aired live on the popular TV morning show, Bahamas @ Sunrise with hosts Romauld Ferreira and Rogan Smith.

Erin was the winner of the Cancer Survivor: Wedding In Paradise giveaway.
It was actually Leslie who entered her into the competition.

He said he had wanted to marry Erin for a long time, but diverted his energy into helping her beat cancer.

“She said we can just go to the justice of the peace and get married. But, that wasn’t good enough for me. Anyone who knows Erin knows she is a radiant, full of life person with a big heart. I wanted to give her a dream wedding – something that was worthy of her,” said Leslie. “When I heard about this competition I immediately put together a video and submitted it.”

As part of their package, Erin and Leslie won a wedding and brunch reception at Atlantis Paradise Island, full clothing and accessories from Five Seasons Bridal and around-the-clock promotion courtesy of Bahamas @ Sunrise.

Sponsors quickly came on board to provide the couple with gifts, services and exotic honeymoons.

Tennille Darville, owner of Five Seasons Bridal Boutique, said she was determined to give back to a cancer survivor and had thought of many ways to do that. She eventually settled on the wedding giveaway.

Darville, who is also a cancer survivor and lost her mom to the disease, said she knew all too well the costs associated with preparing for a wedding.

“When you’re battling cancer, everything else takes the backseat. So, I wanted to find a way to give back to a deserving individual and make his or her wedding dream come true,” she said.

Erin tied the knot just two days after her birthday. Her bridesmaids wore a watermelon hue in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Sponsors included Atlantis Paradise Island, which sponsored the wedding as part of its 20th Anniversary celebrations; Five Seasons Bridal Boutique; The Counsellors Ltd. (TCL); Bahamas @ Sunrise; Mario’s Bowling; Baha Retreat; Kellie Mackey (saxophonist); Scharad L Photography; Kalamuntie Media; Lucy Lu Mua; Jewels by The Sea; Bahama Fantasies; and John Bull.
