Nassau, Bahamas - On Sunday, 26th March 2017, 4:00 p.m., at the newly refurbished SuperClubs Breezes Resort, the Miss Teen Bahamas Pageant Organisation will present the 22 young women vying for the Miss Teen Bahamas 2017 crown.

The contestants’ debut kicks off an intensive twelve-week enrichment programme, which includes make-up application classes, communication and public speaking coaching, self-defence, financial management and investment, health and nutrition counselling and boot camp – all culminating with the 2017 Miss Teen Bahamas Competition, on Sunday evening, 28th May 2017, under the theme, “Made in The Bahamas.”

“We are not a beauty pageant,” said Anthony Smith, President of the Miss Teen Bahamas Organisation, “Our overall aim is to developed a programme that assists young women with life skills in preparation for college and successful careers.”

Last year, Ariannah Wells, a seventeen-year-old student attending Cyber Technology, and majoring in Agricultural Science, won the coveted crown, as well as a $90,000 scholarship to attend Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia. (Ariannah matriculates this Fall, following her reign as Miss Teen Bahamas.) In addition to the winner’s scholarship, the first runner up will receive a $30,000 scholarship, the second runner up will receive a $20,000 scholarship and all other contestants receive $18,000 partial scholarshipsto attend the prestigious university. The Teen Bahamas’ partnership with Liberty university was launched in March 2016. Liberty University is the largest Christian college in the world. In keeping with the University’s admission requirements, a minimum grade point average of 2.5 is one of the criteria for entry into the Miss Teen Bahamas Pageant. In fact, the hallmark of the Miss Teen Bahamas is young, intelligent women that exude confidence and poise and, most of all, can think critically.

Miss Teen Bahamas International came about in 2012 with the then queen, Vanessa Leach, going on to represent The Bahamas in Chicago. Since then, four delegates have been sent to international pageants, with two queens making it to the top semi-finalist rounds. All past queens are either in university or have completed tertiary education and pursuing careers.

Don’t miss the excitement as these 24 young women compete for the title of Miss Teen Bahamas 2017. Tickets can be purchased at Eye Candy Make-Up, HarbourBay Shopping Plaza, East Bay Street and Paramount Fitness, Independence Drive Business Park, East Street, South. Additional information about pageant events, such as the popular fashion couture and evening gown competition, as well as, the pageant night itself, can be found on the Miss Teen Bahamas International Facebook page and the Miss Teen Bahamas International website, www.missteenbahamas.org.
