Nassau, Bahamas - To the residents of Killarney, as the year 2010 fades into the sunset, let us prepare to face the untried challenges and joys of 2011.

Let us remember as we begin this new year, that no matter what we will have to endure, we have all been given the power to overcome any and every obstacle that we may face. God has given each of us the ability through our talents, and with his strength, to be successful.

We will all go into the New Year with different challenges. Some are faced with joblessness and financial difficulties, some with sickness, addictions, depression and some with family problems. In every case we need to first acknowledge our situations and then face them head on. Let us set goals and then work towards them, one step at a time. Choose to believe that you have been armed with strength for every battle!

If you stay in faith, you will be victorious. Don’t just settle in your present situation. Tell yourself that you can accomplish all your dreams and that you have been equipped and empowered to live in victory in every area of your life.

If you cannot change the challenge you face, you can make every effort to control the way you think and deal with those challenges. We all have the power to form perspectives that look beyond discomfort and pain.

I encourage you to spend more time with your children in 2011. Eat healthier, and exercise. If you smoke, quit smoking. Work towards getting out of debt. Plan to help someone in need. Spend more time in the word and in prayer. Learn something new, and enjoy life more.

I challenge you to become involved. Make your voice heard. Join a neighbourhood or crime watch association, or begin one. Attend constituency and town meetings and work with other Killarney residents to truly make a difference. Don’t be a part of the problem. Be a part of the solution.

As your member of parliament, I pledge during the coming year to continue doing everything in my power to give you the kind of representation that you deserve. A representation that is open, accountable and transparent and with a strong voice in Parliament.
In the words of Albert Einstein, “Let us Learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow.”

I wish each and everyone of you, a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR KILLARNEY!!
