Nassau, Bahamas – The Pies for a Pie campaign officially launched its campaign Monday May 22  in support of females in need. This year’s selected recipients are Iyanda Hilton and Keithra Morley. Both have experienced major health challenges and excessive medical expenses. The goal is to raise $10,000 by June 30, 2017.

12–year-old Iyanda has experienced blood transfusions, a daily regime of medications and monitoring adequate fluid intake among other procedures. She recently had a bone marrow transplant and is in need of assistance in ancillary charges outside of the scope of her insurance policy, particularly her aftercare.

Earlier this year, 30-year-old Keithra Morley was diagnosed with Lupus. Since then, doctors have ruled out Lupus and are on a quest to determine which autoimmune disease has now affected her liver. Due to a barrage of tests, both locally and internationally, she has accumulated exorbitant medical bills which her family is unable to defray without financial intervention.

“I am pleased to officially launch this campaign,” said Ghandi Thompson, Organizer and Committee Chairperson. “This is something I wanted to do for a while. Each year the committee will select two different females to be featured. We are glad to assist Iyanda and Keithra, as we realize none of us are above any chronic disease.”

Little Debbie assorted pies are being sold at a cost of $2 per pie or $15 per box.
