RBC Royal Bank Executives Tour Oakes Field Campus

Chemistry and Biology lab tour by senior executives of The College of The Bahamas and RBC Royal Bank of Canada.

Nassau, BAHAMAS – College President Dr. Rodney D. Smith along with senior administrators met with RBC Royal Bank Managing Director Mr. Nathaniel Beneby and Senior Vice President, Sales, RBC Caribbean Banking Mr. Tim Rider on Thursday, January 28th at the Oakes Field Campus.

The meeting included a walking tour of the campus and a visit to the Franklyn R. Wilson Graduate Studies Centre and RBC Lecture Hall. A longstanding supporter of The College and celebrated proponent of education, RBC Royal Bank donated $1 million toward the project. Once completed, the more than 14,000 square foot facility will comprise of classroom spaces, a student lounge, faculty lounge, computer lab, conference room, administrative spaces and a lecture theatre.

The group also toured chemistry and biology labs and COB shared its vision for much needed upgrades of its science laboratories around campus. Additionally, the executives discussed the success and way forward for the RBC Blue Water Project. RBC initially awarded a $75,000 Blue Water Project Leadership Grant to The College of the Bahamas in 2014. This global initiative provides access to fresh water. Over the past two years, The College has brought together researchers and hotel industry partners to develop strategies for sustainable water use, conservation and management in the hotel and tourism sector.
