Nassau, Bahamas - Since its inception, RBC Royal Bank has partnered with The University of The West Indies to host its annual research day.

In its 10th year, UWI’s Research Day Conference will be held under the theme “Clinical and Community Medicine – A Vital Research Partnership” on September 29th and 30th.

Dr. Robin Roberts, Director, UWI School of Clinical Medicine and Research said, “This year we celebrate the UWI School of Clinical Research and Medicine’s 10th Research Day.  On both the regional and international scale our students and faculty have submitted over 30 research papers between 2013 and 2015.  Our students have also received awards for best paper presentations at Caribbean Public Health Agency (CPHA), and the annual American Geriatrics Society – a testament to the quality of our local research.”

According to Dwayne Kemp, Branch Manager, Main Street Branch, RBC Royal Bank has provided UWI with banking services since the inception of the Bahamas Programme in 1997. “We were the inaugural sponsor of the very first Research Day. RBC Royal Bank certainly sees this continued partnership as another opportunity to invest in our community in a tangible way - by supporting an important initiative that will contribute to the well-being of the Bahamian people,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr. Kemp added, “We have always been strongly supportive of educational and healthcare initiatives, and we are intentional regarding investing strategically in sponsorships that will produce a lasting social impact. Therefore, we applaud The University of The West Indies for its philosophy of engaging with the communities and regions where they operate, to ensure that the research, teaching and consulting activities are relevant to the development objectives of the host country,” concluded Mr. Kemp.
