CWCO supports athletes with donation towards new gear

Nassau, Bahamas - Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. (NASDAQ: CWCO), which develops and operates seawater desalination plants and water distribution systems in areas of the world where potable water is scarce, recently donated to track & field club SWIFT Athletics. The donation will assist with purchasing competition gear for 64 young athletes who might not otherwise afford it.

CWCO General Manager Bryan Russell said that the club’s mission, to provide an equal opportunity for youth to participate in track & field at an elite level, is what prompted the company to donate to the growing club.

“We are very impressed by SWIFT Athletics’ mandate to focus on young athletes from public schools and inner-city areas. Sports have long been associated with increased self-confidence and higher development in children and young adults, and we support SWIFT’s belief that all Bahamian youth should have access to its benefits. We are more than happy to contribute to that vision of equality and a brighter future for young Bahamians.”

The club, which was founded in 2013, aims to promote high quality athletes who will go on to become leaders and make a difference within society. The organisation targets public school kids in urban areas where the club believes that many have the full potential to be great athletes but lack the proper training, clothing and foot wear as well as fees to pay for club memberships. Through donations like those from CWCO, the club is able to provide this equipment for many of their young athletes and expose young athletes who otherwise could not afford it to new elite sporting opportunities.
