Nassau, Bahamas - The Salvation Army has made it its mandate to "rescue Christmas," enlisting a team of volunteers in love's army to feed those in need at its 89th Annual Community & Senior's Luncheon.

More than 300 persons were treated to a special lunch and gift voucher to help brighten their holiday season. This year, the annual luncheon took the form of a drive-through to adhere to social distancing protocols.

"This year's luncheon was special because we were able to provide hope for many who were affected greatly by the covid-19 pandemic," stated Melanese Coakley, Salvation Army Community Relations & Development Associate. "We are forever thankful to our donors and volunteers who all came together to help those in need."

For the last 89 years, the Salvation Army's Annual Christmas Luncheon has provided a festive event to celebrate the season while offering relief to those in need. CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank sponsored this year's event.

The Salvation Army remains on the frontlines, assisting those most vulnerable in the community. The Christmas Luncheon is a part of the organization's Christmas Cheer Program, an extension of their year-round Feeding Program.
