Nassau, Bahamas: Like a lot of their countrymen, the team members at Sandals Royal Bahamian sprang into action organizing the purchase and collection of hurricane relief supplies for the displaced inhabitants of our southeast islands.

The Sandals Foundation, charitable arm of Sandals Resorts International, purchased much needed personal hygiene supplies which were received by Pastor Matthew Sweeting and his team at New Providence Community Center. The team members of Sandals Royal Bahamian gathered countless boxes and bags filled with canned goods and gently used clothing procured from a hurricane relief drive led by staff at the resort.  The public information and referral-driven charitable organization HeadKnowles received the items to distribute to the affected.

Pastor Matthew Sweeting comments, “We’re so happy to welcome Sandals to join in the effort with the rest of our corporate partners. Parts of the country aren’t even fully recovered yet from hurricane Matthew so it’s heartening to know that the powerhouses of our country are continuing to stand behind us.”

Heidi Clarke, executive director of Sandals Foundation adds, “Our main focus now is assisting all of our communities in the Caribbean that were devastated from the storm, inclusive of the southeast islands of the Bahamas. It’s going to be a long road to rebuild, but we along with Sandals Royal Bahamian will be here to support until these communities are strong again. We encourage our more fortunate Bahamian community members along with the rest of the Caribbean to donate toward this cause to help reach that common goal. Through the Sandals Foundation 100% of all donations goes toward community efforts.
