Scotia Bank Symphony with the Bahamas Music Conservatory

Nassau, Bahamas - The delightful sounds of orchestral music filled the banking halls of the new Scotiabank Cable Beach branch as customers and staff were treated to a recital by the Scotiabank Symphony. This youth orchestra is sponsored by Scotiabank Bahamas and is comprised of students of The Bahamas Music Conservatory. Ranging in ages from 2 1/2 to 17, the young musicians study classical musical instruments including the violin, viola, cello, clarinet, French horn and double bass under the directorship of JoAnne Connaughton.

Leah R. Davis, Scotiabank’s Senior Manager of Marketing & PR, explained that they have been supporting the Bahamas Music Conservatory for 3 years. “Our partnership with the BMC is an integral part of the Bank’s Bright Future program; we recognize the social, personal and academic benefits of playing orchestral musical instruments and are pleased to be creating opportunities for young Bahamians to learn.”

Members of the Scotiabank Symphony orchestra are pictured at Scotiabank’s Cable Beach branch.
