Scotiabank Donates to the Disabled

Nassau, The Bahamas – The Training Centre for the Disabled received a donation from Scotiabank to assist with student needs, following a robbery at the Centre.

“Scotiabank is committed to helping young persons in our communities become better off. We are proud to partner with the Training Centre as it seeks to empower its students with the proficiencies required to live independently,” said Nakera Symonette, Senior Manager of Marketing and Public Relations at Scotiabank.

“Last year, thieves vandalized the Centre and stole our laptops, microwave, fans, just about all of the costume jewelry and fascinators made by the students, sound mixer board, speakers, microphone and air condition units,” said Rivianna Smith, Managing Director/Coordinator, Training Centre for the Disabled.

“We thrive by helping others to help themselves and are ever grateful to Scotiabank for its ongoing support,” Smith continued.

The Training Centre for the Disabled is the only one of its kind in the country. It provides programmes and training for persons with disabilities and solicits employment for them based on their individual interests and vocational skills.
