Nassau, The Bahamas – Scotiabank is partnering with
Hands for Hunger for the fourth consecutive year to help eradicate
hunger through its annual Food Drive which was officially launched by the bank’s Managing Director, Sean Albert.
Scotiabank
locations throughout The Bahamas will serve as a drop off center for
food donations from Monday, October 27 to Friday, November 21. Members
of the public are encouraged to donate canned goods and other
nonperishable food items to any one of the 20 branches throughout the
country to be distributed to members of the local community once the
drive ends.
Scotiabank’s Managing Director, Mr. Sean
Albert, spoke of the effort “This is an important annual partnership for
the bank. It is our aim to collect at least 5,000 pounds of food based
on previous years. We will donate one dollar for each pound of food
collected, up to our goal. We anticipate that the generosity of our
employees and customers will help to feed many families in our
community, as in the past.”
Scotiabank has long
supported the well-being of communities around the world. Contributing
worldwide to community causes focused on health, education, social
services arts and culture. In addition to Scotiabank’s corporate
efforts, employees at all levels volunteer their time, skills and money,
individually and through teamwork, to support community causes.
High
priority food items include canned meat, fruit, vegetables and soup;
hot and cold cereal; rice and pasta. The food drive is expected to
culminate with a Dollar Day on November 21.
