Nassau, Bahamas - The girls of P.A.C.E. (Providing Access to Continued Education) were empowered to believe in themselves, have vision, and pursue their dreams in a special talk given in honour of International Women’s Day. The motivational talk, given by CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Head of Human Resources Antionette Turnquest, encouraged them to realize their potential and find success doing what they love. Turnquest also offered practical advice to the young women, from how to access scholarships and resources to how to prepare for business interviews and utilize social media to their advantage. P.A.C.E. allows first-time pregnant, school-age girls the opportunity to continue their education and gain entrepreneurial skills. In addition to a standard core curriculum, they also offer parenting classes. President Jackie Knowles said: “We’re happy to partner again with CIBC FirstCaribbean. It’s important to show our girls their history doesn’t have to become their destiny. Just because they may have been a teen mom whose education was interrupted, that’s not the end of their story.” Turnquest said: “The important thing I hope I conveyed to these young women is that even when life doesn’t go as planned, they just need to view it as a momentary detour. Stay the course, persevere, and eventually they’ll arrive at their destination. Those same dreams they had before they found themselves in this situation can still be realized. They just need to put a plan in action and keep pushing forward.” Pictured is Turnquest addressing the girls of P.A.C.E.
