Students from Simms and Glinton Primary Schools with lots of questions about sharks Credit: Sharks4Kids

Last week Sharks4Kids, a Florida based nonprofit, visited Simm’s Primary
School on Long Island in The Bahamas for a JAWSOME shark education session. Students
from Glinton’s Primary School were bused in for the special visit.
During
two presentations students learned about sharks, the Bahamas shark
sanctuary and shark science. When asked, most students had been lucky
enough to see a shark and thought they were pretty “cool,” animals.

Students and teachers were also impressed to learn that sharks generate
approximately 78 million dollars for the Bahamas each year.
A
quiz after each session gave students the chance to win stickers from
Shark Armor, posters and wristbands from Shark Stanley and even a
stuffed shark!

“ These students are so lucky to have such an incredibly diverse population of sharks right in their backyard and we want to inspire them to protect it,” said Sharks4Kids founder and president Jillian Morris.
Homeowner Susan Koster, a long time supporter of the schools, helped make the connection possible.
