Nassau, Bahamas - Patrick Thomson, President and Italia Watkins-Jan, Vice-President /Administrator of the Nassau Music Society, accompanied by Alexandre DaCosta, world renowned violinist, and Wonny Song, piano virtuoso, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Dominique Lefèvre, Managing Director of Société Générale Private Banking (Bahamas) Ltd on Thursday, March 31, 2011.
Mr. Lefèvre and his company are the leading sponsor of the Nassau Music Sociéty
and have supported the organisation in its efforts to bring top-quality, international classical musicians to The Bahamas for many years. All artists, in addition to the concerts they perform, are required to hold a free Master class for young Bahamian musicians.
After briefly discussing with the artists who performed respectively at Government House and St. Paul's, Lyford Cay, on March 29th and 30th, Mr. Lefèvre presented the Nassau Music Society with a cheque for thirty thousand dollars ($30,000).
Mr. Thomson thanked Mr. Lefèvre and the Société Générale Private Banking (Bahamas) Ltd. for their continued support and stressed the fact that without the support of its generous Corporate sponsors, particularly his company, the Nassau Music Society would not be able to continue to provide concerts of such quality and expose the Bahamian public and youth to these international artists.
The Nassau Music Society's concert season is under the patronage of His Excellency Sir Arthur Foulkes, Governor General of The Bahamas. Proceeds from the Nassau Music Society's concerts are used to support talented young Bahamians in pursuing music studies, mainly at the College of the Bahamas but also abroad.
