Walkers and runners encouraged to pre-register for Solomon's Fresh Market 3rd Annual Fun Walk & Health Fair set for this Saturday May 26th.

Nassau, Bahamas - On Saturday, May 26, Solomon’s Fresh Market will host its 3rd Annual Fun Walk & Health Fair at Old Fort Bay.  Event organizers are inviting members of the public to come out, get moving and learn more about options for living a healthier lifestyle. At 6:30 a.m., the 5K Fun Walk will begin in the store’s parking lot with participants traveling to Lyford Cay and back.  Throughout the day, customers can also take advantage of free health screenings, cooking demonstrations and product sampling during the health fair running from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m.

“We’re excited to put on our third annual fun walk and health fair. Last year we had more than 100 persons participating in the walk and some 250 shoppers visiting vendor booths so we know that there is a strong interest in getting active and learning more about health and wellness,” said Naomi Grant, event organizer and Solomon’s Fresh Market Brand Manager.   “As a company, we try to take advantage of every opportunity to educate our community and to provide information on incorporating fresh, natural and organic ingredients and physical activity into daily living.”

Grant invites persons to pre- register for the walk at www.solomonsfreshmarkets.com or visit any Solomon’s Fresh Market location to sign up. Registration will also take place on Saturday. Part proceeds from the 5K will benefit the Cancer Society of The Bahamas. Last year, AML Foods Limited, parent company of Solomon’s Fresh Market donated $1,500 to the non-profit group. The company hopes to match or exceed that amount this year.

In addition to advice from fitness experts, tips on preparing nutritious meals and food sampling, Doctors Hospital and the Bahamas Medical Center will be available to conduct blood pressure checks, weigh-ins and glucose screenings at the health fair.
