RESPECT MY RED!— SAC Alumni Association President Mrs. Samantha Culmer-Kemp sporting a "Respect My Red" T-Shirt.

NASSAU, Bahamas -- The St. Augustine’s College (SAC) Alumni and Parents/Teachers Associations will host the “Remember When” Old School Dance this Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Xavier’s Lower School Hall on West Bay Street. Happy Hour starts at 5pm with the actual Dance kicking off at 8pm.

The Old School Dance will raise much needed funds to provide additional scholarships to deserving young people in The Bahamas as well as contribute to the development of a new track at SAC for the school’s athletes.

SAC Alumni Association President Samantha Culmer-Kemp said that the Association currently provides scholarships for students to attend SAC and is also committed to assisting SAC graduates with scholarships to attend colleges and universities.

Apart from providing scholarships and helping with the school’s infrastructural development, members of the Alumni Association make it a point to back SAC students at sporting events or any competition that the students may be involved in.

Most recently, the Alumni Association outfitted all four of SAC's basketball teams that advanced to the playoffs of the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools Basketball Series with “Respect My Red” T-Shirts.  According to Kemp: “This was done in an effort to ensure that the players could know that their support system stretches far beyond their parents, teachers and schoolmates, but that, we, the members of the Alumni Association are in their corner.”

Resources raised at the “Remember When” Old School Dance will allow the Alumni Association to continue with its support of the students at SAC and so the public is being asked to come out and "Remember When" that song that used to make you get up and dance no matter where you were; to go back to a time that you remember -- that was fun and exciting -- as you contribute to a worthy cause.  There will also be lots of door prizes and give aways throughout the night.

Tickets for the event are available at St. Augustine’s College or Mario’s Bowling & Entertainment.
