In an attempt to
slow down the escalating boat theft problem in The Bahamas, and possibly
catch those responsible, we are asking all boaters to participate in a
community based mariners network in an open group in Facebook.
The ultimate goal is
to stop theft, and help minimize financial losses for everyone. We are
asking that all boat owners keep a digital picture of their boat on
file, along with a description of the boat. The description should
include, make, length, model, type and quantity of engines, color of
hull and deck, serial numbers of hull and engine(s), details of
accessories, home port and contact information.
If a boat is stolen,
we are asking that the owner or agent send an alert e-mail with the
picture and details of the boat and theft to the following:

Please make sure that the subject says: "boat stole"
This e-mail address
will be checked throughout the day, and in the event a boat is stolen,
the alert will be sent out in a mass e-mail. The more people that know
about the theft, the greater the chances are of recovery.
Please alert your local police station.
