Stuart and Michelle Cove presented BREEF Executive Director Casuarina McKinney-Lambert with 30 masks, 30 fins and 30 snorkel vests for their educational camps and courses.

Stuart Cove Dive Bahamas made a generous donation of snorkeling equipment, including thirty sets of masks, snorkels, fins and snorkel vests, to the Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF). This equipment will be put straight to use in the third and final summer BREEF Sea Camp 6-9th August in New Providence.

Michelle Cove noted that “Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas is pleased to continue supporting BREEF with their snorkeling programs and environmental awareness”.

“By learning how to safely appreciate the marine environment at a young age, the next generation of environmental stewards experiencing Sea Camps and BREEF field trips will be prepared to actively conserve the Bahamian marine environment that sustains our way of life.” stated BREEF Executive Director Casuarina McKinney-Lambert.

BREEF offered Sea Camps this summer in Andros, Eleuthera and Nassau, New Providence. The final Nassau camp runs August 6th - 9th. Campers gain hands on experience snorkeling and identifying over 25 species of fish and invertebrates for the 2019 “Fish for the Future” conservation theme.

Many of the youngsters who participate in BREEF’s school and summer programmes go on to pursue marine careers. One example of a BREEF intern coming full circle is Renee Farquharson. After developing a passion for marine life while taking part in BREEF and the Cape Eleuthera Island School’s Bahamas Environmental Stewards Scholars (BESS) programme, Renee became a dive instructor and is currently teaching courses, including the Reef Rescue Diver coral restoration course, at Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas.
