Nassau, Bahamas – Last weekend the courtyard of The Nazareth Home for Children was decorated with the full bells and whistles, a huge bouncing castle, colorful balloons and bright sashes in a fun day to celebrate the coming of summer and the winding down of the school year. The staff members of the CIBC FirstCaribbean John F. Kennedy Drive (JFK) Branch came together to bring cheer to the children of the home, throwing a party and donating essential items for the home. “This is the best day in my life!!” exclaimed one of the thirty-eight children that call the Nazareth Centre Home. The children, ages 0-11, were treated to a barbecue of hotdogs and hamburgers, and treats like candy and popcorn along with an assortment of juices, water and other soft drinks. Each child also received a gift bag, filled with goodies and school supplies. Throughout the day the JFK staff organized games and activities for the children. The kids were coordinated into teams for races and various ball games. However, the undoubted favorite game of the day was the “So You Think You Can Dance” competition where children and JFK staff members could challenge each other to a dance off to today’s most popular songs. All the winners received prizes such as coloring books and crayons, toy sets, board games, hair accessories, and sports equipment. The day wrapped with a donation of cases of essential items such as pampers, soap, baby wipes, water, toys and juice presented to the home to help relieve some of the cost of everyday administration. “We wish to truly thank CIBC FirstCaribbean for making this possible, without their act of generosity, our mini fun day, would not have been possible,” said the administrator Mrs. Fiordelisa Bain. The fun day was organized by CIBC FirstCaribbean as a part of the bank’s Adopt-A-Cause program. Adopt-A- Cause is a program implemented across the CIBC FirstCaribbean network to encourage staff involvement in community activities. Through the program, employees get the opportunity to identify projects in their immediate surroundings to become involved in. Thanks to the efforts of employees, the bank supports just under 100 causes throughout the Caribbean every year including projects with schools, nongovernmental organizations, charities and other interest groups.
