The Bahamas Weekly News Team is shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of "Smiling Pat", Patricia Hoyte Zonicle, who of late had been living in Cat Island, after years in Grand Bahama Island.  It is said she died in her sleep the night of June 21st.

As owner and operator of "Smiling Pats Adventures," she was no stranger to hard work and dedication. She was truly an ambassador to her country.

Smiling Pat was the eldest of nine children and the daughter of world famous steel pan player, Little Sparrow.

“I am old school and I’m heavy on my culture,” the native Cat Islander used to say of herself.

In 2011 Smiling Pat was featured in a Grand Bahama tourism video promoting the island.

The photo seen here was taken by David Mackey in Grand Bahama Island when she was about to launch her cooking show on ZNS.  Smiling Pat was also feature on the Food Network's "Dinner Impossible" show which visited Grand Bahama in 2007.

Gone too soon! Rest in peace our dear friend, who had the biggest, best smile and a heart to match!

Funeral service will be held July 2nd 2016 at 10:00am at the Mary Star Catholic Church Freeport, Grand Bahama.
