Nassau, Bahamas - Bus stop bench company Seaside Media this week partnered with the Bahamas Feeding Network dedicating two of its benches to calling attention to the plight of poverty.

“With official statistics revealing that more than one in every seven people in The Bahamas lives at or below the poverty level of $11.64 a day, getting enough to eat is an all too real daily battle,” said Philip Smith, Executive Director of the Bahamas Feeding Network. “We are most appreciative of Seaside Media’s generous gesture in helping to spread the message that hunger hurts, but together we can wipe it out.”

Since its founding in 2013, the Network has donated some $350,000 in food coupons plus groceries and supplies to 120 churches with feeding programs, soup kitchens and community feeding centres in Nassau and several Family Islands. It is also working with officials for backyard gardening programs in schools and neighbourhoods, is collaborating on a nationwide audit of needs and programs and is planning another in a series of best practices seminars.
