(Video) Red Dress Soiree leading lady, Tonique Williams to wear surprise designer gown

Nassau, Bahamas - Leading lady from Bahamas Track and Field fame, Tonique Williams-Darling is also be one of the ten leading ladies of the upcoming charity event, the Red Dress Soiree to take place in Nassau on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012. The leading ladies will take the runway in red gowns designed by 10 local designers at The Red Dress Soirée. The event will be held at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort at 7pm.

resented by The Bahamas AIDS Foundation and Primadona, the event highlights ten trailblazing women representing various industries. Never before has a grouping of such influential women been amassed locally for a fashion related event with a charitable backbone.

Proceeds benefit The Bahamas AIDS Foundation, specifically their work with adolescents infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

“The Foundation is delighted to partner with Primadona to host this unique event which combines the creativity of the local designers with recognition of some of the Leading Ladies in our country. All of this while at the same time raising funds for a very worthy cause,” states Lady Camille Barnett, President of the Bahamas AIDS Foundation.


The event will feature a runway presentation of each leading lady in her specially designed gown followed by a cocktail reception and silent auction.

The ten leading ladies include Janet Bostwick, Joann Callender, Sandra Dean-Patterson, Karen Goodfellow, Maria Govan, Tanya McCartney, Arlene Nash-Ferguson, Elaine Pinder, Tonique Williams and Sharon Wilson.

Creating one-of-a-kind gowns for each leading lady will be ten designers including Javotte Bethel, Apryl Burrows, Phylicia Ellis, Sabrina Francis, Patrice Lockhart, duo Cardell McClam and Christopher John, Indira Moss, David Rolle and Theodore Elyett.


The Bahamas AIDS Foundation has recently started to work with adolescents infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Five days a week after school these adolescents are provided with educational tutoring, psychosocial intervention, peer support , job training and placement, a snack and a hot meal, referral services, and individual and group counseling, all of which are directed to enable the adolescents to lead long, productive, healthy lives. The Red Dress Soirée directly supports these efforts.
