Two of Nassau's hottest bands, Visage and Vice-Versa will host a magnificent concert to celebrate one of Freeport's most renowned community activists, singers and bankers - Minerva Kemp-McIntosh.

"This is My Story, This is My Song: An Evening of Music, Storytelling and Good Old-Fashioned Fun", will showcase the life of an exemplary Grand Bahamian on Friday, 23rd November 2018 at the Grand Lucayan Ballroom at 8:00pm. The daughter and sister of world-class entertainers Johnny Kemp Sr. and Jr., this concert in her honor promises to be a memorable occasion.

In 2004, Minerva was diagnosed with leukemia, a blood cancer. At that time, the doctors told her that she would not survive beyond a year. After undergoing treatment, her cancer went into remission and she was able to live a healthy life.

Ten years later, in 2014, her cancer returned and again, she was able to beat the odds and astounded the doctors with her ability to bounce back. One doctor commented that she was a "miracle" as most leukemia patients did not survive their diagnosis as long as she did.

In 2017, the cancer returned once again and this time, it has been more aggressive than the previous two times. From November 2017 to now, Minerva has been undergoing chemo and has been travelling to the US to receive her treatments.

Known for her star-studded voice, Minerva has been singing in the Grand Bahama community for decades. During her 30-year career in banking, Mrs. McIntosh has touched the lives of many Grand Bahamians and she is respected and admired for her generosity and good heart.

Her influence has not only been felt in her professional life, but also though her community involvement as an active member of Calvary Temple Church, Christ the King, and G.B. Family Worship Center and she has fulfilled her role as a pastor's wife with grace and humility. Additionally, as a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Lucaya, Minerva undoubtedly embodied the tenets of Rotary and continuously put "Service Above Self".

Minerva has always given to the Grand Bahama community, asking for nothing in return. Now, the Grand Bahama community has an opportunity to give to one who has unselfishly given of her time, talents and financial resources to help individuals and organizations in need.
