Nassau, Bahamas – The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) is pleased
to announce that Dian Saunders-Adderley was recently named a Fellow of
the United Kingdom Institute of Civil Engineers. Mrs. Adderley is the
WSC Internal Technical and Operations Auditor, in the company’s Internal
Control and Compliance Division.
According to the Institute of
Engineers’ website, “The grade of Fellow is the highest and most senior
grade of Institute of Civil Engineers Membership and is reserved for
senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or have advanced the practice of engineering.”
Saunders-Adderley
has been a member of the Institution since 1997 and is also a member of
UK Engineering Council and the Professional Engineers Board in The
Bahamas. Holding a great deal of academic qualifications and
professional development in the engineering industry, Saunders-Adderley
is very honoured to receive this recognition especially as the first
female to do so in The Bahamas.
“On the journey toward
Fellowship, I have constantly been challenged to become a better
engineer through continuous professional development and membership with
professional bodies,” she noted. “I am hopeful that my success in
attaining Fellowship will encourage Bahamian professionals to continue
to advance the competitiveness of The Bahamas by pursuing the highest
international professional qualifications in their respective careers.”
Saunders-Adderley has been working in the engineering field for over eighteen years, and has been with WSC since 2006. Besides
auditing
current projects within the company she has been instrumental in the
current GPS mapping system being implemented with the red water project,
to help improve services in New Providence.
“I am very humbled
by this recognition,” said Saunders-Adderley. “I want to especially
thank my work colleagues for their support. In my journey I take pride
in the influence my fellow Bahamian engineers have had on my career.”
“We
are very proud of Dian’s success in the engineering field and
especially proud to have her as a part of the WSC team,” said Glen
Laville, WSC General Manager. WSC is extremely proud that one of their
engineers has been able to reach this level of success and they look
forward to her future contributions to the corporation.
