WSC Employee Receives Highest Engineering Award

Nassau, Bahamas – The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) is pleased to announce that Dian Saunders-Adderley was recently named a Fellow of the United Kingdom Institute of Civil Engineers. Mrs. Adderley is the WSC Internal Technical and Operations Auditor, in the company’s Internal Control and Compliance Division.

According to the Institute of Engineers’ website, “The grade of Fellow is the highest and most senior grade of Institute of Civil Engineers Membership and is reserved for senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or have advanced the practice of engineering.”

Saunders-Adderley has been a member of the Institution since 1997 and is also a member of UK Engineering Council and the Professional Engineers Board in The Bahamas. Holding a great deal of academic qualifications and professional development in the engineering industry, Saunders-Adderley is very honoured to receive this recognition especially as the first female to do so in The Bahamas.

“On the journey toward Fellowship, I have constantly been challenged to become a better engineer through continuous professional development and membership with professional bodies,” she noted. “I am hopeful that my success in attaining Fellowship will encourage Bahamian professionals to continue to advance the competitiveness of The Bahamas by pursuing the highest international professional qualifications in their respective careers.”

Saunders-Adderley has been working in the engineering field for over eighteen years, and has been with WSC since 2006. Besides

auditing current projects within the company she has been instrumental in the current GPS mapping system being implemented with the red water project, to help improve services in New Providence.

“I am very humbled by this recognition,” said Saunders-Adderley. “I want to especially thank my work colleagues for their support. In my journey I take pride in the influence my fellow Bahamian engineers have had on my career.”

“We are very proud of Dian’s success in the engineering field and especially proud to have her as a part of the WSC team,” said Glen Laville, WSC General Manager. WSC is extremely proud that one of their engineers has been able to reach this level of success and they look forward to her future contributions to the corporation.
