Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled will be holding a general / election meeting for all officers and members on Tuesday 28th June at Christ the King Hall at 6p.m. All officers and members must be financial to vote.

The public is invited to attend.

The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled’s programs allow members to gain exposure that may not have otherwise been possible. Their programmes aid in the growth of the participants’ self-esteem, helping in becoming more self sufficient and more productive members of society.

Persons who join the Council receive support, education, fellowship, and come together to work as a group to find solutions for individual and community challenges. If you would like to register with the Council...

Freeport, Bahamas - Members of the Executive team for the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled accepted a cheque that is the first of 12 for the year as a part of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited’s (GBPA) pledge of monthly donations toward this vital non-profit organization.

GBPA President, Mr. Ian Rolle presented the cheque on behalf of GBPA to the Council for the Disabled during a brief exchange held in front of ‘The Pink Building’ and proclaimed the company’s continued support towards the council. “The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled’s program is so very important in helping these great people who have disabilities..."

Disability Awareness Week & Two-Day Conference - Nov 28, 2007 - 2:00:11 PM

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 to Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 is Disability Awareness Week. The theme is “Enabling Full Participation Through Effective Legislation”. All are being urged to participate in as many of the week’s activities as possible to take place in New Providence. This week is particularly geared for persons with disabilities to give their input. In the words of the Vice President of the Bahamas National Council for Disability, “It provides a window of opportunity to express yourself."

T-shirts from the Fun, Run Walk & Push event will be on sale on Monday, December 3rd in obervance of International Day of Disabled Persons at the Freeport Post Office. The general public is encouraged to support the Northern Council for the Disabled by purchasing a t-shirt for $ 10, $ 12,00 for XL, 2X, 3X. October has been deemed ‘Disability Awareness Month’ by the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled, and what better way to pay attention to this important organization than with a new image and logo.  Freeport Advertising and Printing heard that the Council was in need of a logo and came to their aid presenting them with not only one, but three logos to choose from.  Mrs. Bessiemae Nottage, president of the Northern Council for the Disabled selected the logo shown here as she felt it depicted the Bahamian colours, and the team spirit required to help one another...

GB Disabled Council members want a place that they can call their own - Jun 26, 2007 - 10:02:18 AM

Newly elected Grand Bahama Disabled Council President Bessiemae Nottage is calling on corporate citizens and individuals with financial means to help her organization establish a new home. 
Despite being physically challenged, Nottage says high on her agenda is for the disabled people of Grand Bahama to have a place they can call their own. She said they are somewhat scattered right now and even though they have an office space in the Kipling Building, there is need for a much larger and better place that can be accessible by all their members...
