GBPA Offers Monthly Donation to the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled

Freeport, Bahamas - Members of the Executive team for the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled accepted a cheque that is the first of 12 for the year as a part of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited’s (GBPA) pledge of monthly donations toward this vital non-profit organization.

GBPA President, Mr. Ian Rolle presented the cheque on behalf of GBPA to the Council for the Disabled during a brief exchange held in front of ‘The Pink Building’ and proclaimed the company’s continued support towards the council. “The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled’s program is so very important in helping these great people who have disabilities..."

Northern Council for the Disabled receive three new Wheelchairs

Grand Bahama Island - Members of the Kiku Zeki Temple 184 and Kiku Zeki court 202 presented the Northern Council for the Disabled with three new Wheelchairs recently.

Disability Awareness Week & Two-Day Conference

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 to Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 is Disability Awareness Week. The theme is “Enabling Full Participation Through Effective Legislation”. All are being urged to participate in as many of the week’s activities as possible to take place in New Providence. This week is particularly geared for persons with disabilities to give their input. In the words of the Vice President of the Bahamas National Council for Disability, “It provides a window of opportunity to express yourself."

T-shirts from the Fun, Run Walk & Push event will be on sale on Monday, December 3rd in obervance of International Day of Disabled Persons at the Freeport Post Office. Bringing Awareness and Support to the Disabled

October has been deemed ‘Disability Awareness Month’ by the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled, and what better way to pay attention to this important organization than with a new image and logo. Freeport Advertising and Printing heard that the Council was in need of a logo and came to their aid presenting them with not only one, but three logos to choose from. Mrs. Bessiemae Nottage, president of the Northern Council for the Disabled selected the logo shown here as she felt it depicted the Bahamian colours, and the team spirit required to help one another...
