Bahamian award-winning filmmaker and photographer, Charles Smith just got back from Los Angeles where his documentary film, "When Pigs Swim" screened at the Pan African Film Fest, and this weekend it will be screened at the inaugural Widescreen Film and Music Video Festival at AMC Theaters in Ventura. "When Pigs Swim" is about Exuma's swimming pigs who have become a global phenomenon and internet sensation. His film, "Seeking" a documentary from The Bahamas will be screening on February 27th at the inaugural Caribe Film Festival. The documentary ‘Seeking’ is a moving film documenting celebrated artist, Jonathan Green as he brings to life on canvas the African American ritual of Seeking. Pulling from his very own memories as a young man, he journeys back through his ancestry to paint, ‘Seeking’, honoring the African American slaves that lived and were buried at Clermont Cemetery on the grounds of the Mepkin Abbey in South Carolina. Filled with the spiritual sounds of famed singer, Marlena Smalls, Seeking celebrates and acknowledges the significant contributes and sacrifices that African Americans made throughout American history.
