Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Alan Doyle, a Canadian musician and actor best known as the lead singer of Canadian folk rock band, Great Big Sea was in Grand Bahama last night for a benefit concert to support the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society. Doyle performed with the Beautiful Gypsies in a sold out show at the Regency Theatre, that had the audience clapping and on their feet enjoying the lively music. Doyle has been recently nominated for a 2016 Juno Award (Canada's highest musical honour) for a 'Contemporary Roots Album of the Year' award for his second solo album, So Let’s Go in which Doyle "returns to his traditional and Celtic roots, while adding a contemporary spin." “I always want people to have the greatest night of their life when the house lights go down,” says Alan Doyle. Well he sure did that in Grand Bahama!
The concert has been made possible through the generosity of Brendan Paddick and Renee Vedd-Paddick who made the arrangements and donated the costs to bring Alan Doyle and The Beautiful Gypsies performance to Grand Bahama for the many beneficiaries of the Society. The Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society exists to provide opportunities and scholarships for performing arts schools and students on Grand Bahama.
