Recording artists' Avvy Bahamas and Jack 'Nasty' Lightbourne from the Turks and Caicos Islands have announced that the first two singles off their upcoming album "Dirty South Experiment" is scheduled to be released this week Friday, February 17, 2017.

The two, who met at last year's Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival celebrations in Freeport, Grand Bahama will be releasing a joint album next month and expressed their excitement about the project which has been in the works for almost a year.

"While flying back from the Freeport carnival we sat in the airport in Miami waiting on flights, and we just connected on a different level," Avvy told TheBahamasWeekly.com. "We linked up and have been working on dual projects from that day.

Currently the "Dirty South Experiment" album has 8 songs, but Avvy tells us there may be more, and it is expected to be distributed throughout the Caribbean region and beyond. "The album is a combination of Rake 'n Scrape, what we call 'Bush Music' in the south, with some Soca tracks, and some international tracks," said Avvy.

"As Avvy Bahamas and I prep to release the first two singles this Friday I was forced to ponder on the historic aspect of what we're embarking on (two artists, two countries, one album)," said Jack Lightbourne. "This project exposed a number of differences and similarities we share, e.g our accents, similar dishes and similarities in culture. Alternately, it clearly illustrated how closely related the #Bahamas and #TurksAndCaicos are and how deeply rooted our heritages are tied. For us, this is much bigger than #Music."

Both artists said that they are very satisfied with the final product and are looking forward to touring and marketing, marking a historic moment for two deeply rooted family nations to be collaborating.
