Freeport, Bahamas - An interim executive board of the newly relaunched Grand Bahama Entertainers Musicians and Art
ists Association has been elected
during their first in a series of scheduled meetings.
The groups new Secretary is Terelle Tynes Wilson; Treasurer - Leonardo "Leo Heart" Sawyer; Vice President - Nathaniel P. Lewis; and President - Nat Cambridge.
The
meeting, under the theme "Pride Performance, Professionalism" was held
at Canal House at Pelican Bay Hotel, and was well attended by a
wide range of entertainers including singers, recording artists, DJ's,
poets and rappers.
An array of issues and concerns facing the
arts and entertainment, including lack of industry standards and unfair
labor practices by government and private sector vendors were discussed.
The meeting sojourned to December 1st, 2014 when finalization of
several matters will take pace. one of those matters is adopting of a
mutually agreed mission statement, another is the completion of
communications or a white paper on industry issues to be presented by
the board and members to relevant public and private officials and
entities.
"I look forward to the same level of enthusiasm during
the next meeting and going forward," said president, Nat Cambridge. "...as we the GBEMAA seek to advocate for
the rights and benefit of artists, the arts, entertainers and the
entertainment, cultural development and initiatives that encourage
cultural communicators. We hope others will join us."
GBEMAA thanks all those that attended. Their next meeting is set for December 1st. The meeting venue will be announced soon.
