The 69th annual Golden Globes took place last night in Beverly Hills, California with
The Artist coming out with 3 big wins: Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical), Best Performance by an Actor (Jean Dujardin), and Best Performance by an Actress (Berenice Bejo).
The Descendants came out winning Best Film Drama and Best Actor (George Clooney).
The night was hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais who seemed to enjoy his libation while hosting and jokingly said, "The Hollywood Foreign Press has warned me that if I insult anybody... they'll definitely have me back next year."
Surprise of the night was a win by Madonna for her song,
Masterpiece as seen in the film she directed,
W.E.
Veteran actors were in the spotlight as Christopher Plumber (of the
Sound of Music fame) won for his supporting role in
Beginners, while Meryl Streep took the highly competitive Lead Actor Award for her role in
The Iron Lady, and Morgan Freedman was acknowledged for the well deserved Lifetime Achievement.
