Miami, FL – HBO Latin America will premiere the fifth season
of the smash-hit drama True Blood simultaneously with the United States
on June 10. Everything is at stake in the all-new season of the original
series. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the
Emmy®-nominated show follows the on-and off romance between waitress and
part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (AnnaPaquin), who can hear people’s
thoughts, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).
The final episode of season four left off with Sookie having to decide
between her vampire suitors Bill and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård). Marnie
(Fiona Shaw) was seeking revenge after taking over Lafayette's (Nelsan
Ellis) body and wanted to obtain additional powers. Meanwhile, Jason
(Ryan Kwanten) decided it was time to tell Hoyt (Jim Parrack) about
sleeping with Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), and of course, Hoyt didn’t
take it too well, but Jason and Jessica came to an understanding about
their relationship. Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer)tried to make amends
about his recent strange behavior and Arlene (Carrie Preston) got a
visit from the last person she wanted to see.
During each of the 12 hour-long episodes of the sexy and spooky series,
fans will be introduced to the politics of the Vampire Authority and
dangers of “vampire fundamentalism.” The outcome of this political power
play could decide not only the fate of Sookie and her Bon Temps
friends, but of all human existence.
The season kicks off with Sookie and Lafayette desperately struggling
with what to do about Tara because they fear they may lose her forever,
while also cleaning up after Debbie Pelt. Meanwhile, Bill and Eric, try
cleaning up a mess of their own, and are visited by the Vampire
Authority, one of whom is Nora, a woman from Eric’s past. Also, in
search of the missing Marcus, Alcide’s werewolf pack comes after Sam.
Meanwhile, with Bill away, Jessica enjoys her new freedom by partying
with some local college kids; Jason is visited by the recently turned
Reverend Steve Newlin; Terry’s PTSD is reignited by an old Iraq War
buddy, Patrick; and Alcide turns up at Sookie’s to warn her about the
recently resurfaced Russell Edgington.
Joining the cast include Christopher Meloni (Emmy®-nominated for Law
& Order: SVU) as Roman, president of the Vampire Authority; Scott
Foley (Felicity) as Patrick Devins, an Iraq war veteran who comes to Bon
Temps to track down his former squad-mate Terry Bellefleur; Valentina
Cervi (Jane Eyre) as Salome; Lucy Griffiths (BBC’s Robin Hood) as Nora;
