GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND – This coming Thanksgiving weekend, the Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with MOVE Marketing, the organizers of the Meeting of Minds, will host Culinary Fusion Expo 2016, November 26th, from 4:00pm until 9:00pm at the Manor House, Grand Lucayan Resort.

With an emphasis on Culinary Tourism, the Meeting of Minds: Culinary Fusion Expo offers to Food & Beverage outlets a platform to meet one on one with new and existing customers to help increase consumer confidence and boost domestic tourism.

At a press conference held on Thursday, November 17th at the Manor House, high-spirited vendors and sponsors advised the media that they were ready for this year’s event.

Roderick Colebrook, Director at the Grand Lucayan Resort, said that, “This event says so much about how resilient the Freeport community and businesses are.”

He said, “We’re ready to support it [Culinary Fusion], and we will do whatever it takes to make sure that this event succeeds and this island succeeds.”

According to Sean Johnson, President of MOVE Marketing, “The event also gives opportunities for networking and expanding clientele for the vendors, whether it is business-to-business or people opportunities and the Meeting of the Minds: Culinary Fusion event is the platform to make this possible.”

Josene Brockback, Executive for Groups and Events at the Ministry of Tourism, spoke to the ministry’s special addition to the event, the culinary and mixology competitions.

She said, “The competition will create a platform to showcase authentic Bahamian cuisine, using locally grown produce and products.”

The competition, which is optional for vendors, features three categories: food, beverage and dessert. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category.

This year’s event will include a donation to Grand Bahama United, a hurricane relief organization, to bring aid to locals who are still in need.

Brooke Grant, Senior Executive for Communications at the Ministry of Tourism, said, “The event is timely for Grand Bahama Island as it brings key stakeholders together in the spirit of benevolence and community.”

Participating vendors in this year’s expo include: Churchill’s, Ire’s and China Beach Restaurants at the Grand Lucayan, Agave Latin Restaurant, Bahamian Brewery, Bristol Wines and Spirits, Out Da Sea Bar & Restaurant, Bootleg Chocolates, Phluid Phactory, Take The Cake, Zorbas Greek Restaurant, Water Depot, Wing Dings, Freeport Wild Wings, Deelish Pastries, Shootas Bar & Grill, Garden Café, along with Albany out of New Providence, and other independent proprietorships.

As a booster for domestic travel to Grand Bahama Island, the Lighthouse Pointe property at Grand Lucayan will offer a local rate of $126.00, per person for double occupancy and $150.00 per person for single occupancy.
