Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Just a few short weeks ago residents of Grand Bahama were battening down their hatches and seeking shelter from a massive storm heading directly towards their beloved island. Today we stand in the midst of the greatest time of rebuilding and revitalization that Grand Bahama Island has ever had to undergo. We have awakened to a new reality and for many, this reality is very challenging. On Friday November 25th Mackey Media Ltd is pleased to present The Uppercut Band and Friends live family event; ‘Still Standing After the Storm’  in conjunction with Port Lucaya Marketplace.

Still Standing After the storm is an exciting live event combining Musicians, Dancers, artists and Orators who have volunteered to share their god given talent at no cost in exchange for each and every attendant donating canned or bagged food items to the Grand Bahama Red Cross and Salvation Army to assist in feeding the hungry. Because most of us lack the resources to write big donation checks, this our time to give in accordance with our means.

The name Still Standing After the Storm, was inspired by a powerful song composed by Rev Rudy Roberts recorded at Mackey Media. It is a song of resilience after the storms of life whether they be literal as in Hurricane Matthew or issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, rape or otherwise.

All live performances will be vibrant inspiring and tasteful. The music will cover a cross section of genres including island, Gospel, R&B, Rock, Folk, Classical and more. Because our community is culturally diverse, so is this family oriented event. There will be no long speeches but there will be great words of encouragement by Joe Darville throughout the night and his co-hosts Yolanda Hanna of YH Media and Brooke Grant of The Brooke Grant Network will heighten the 'Feel Good vibe.'

Who should attend Still Standing After The Storm live event at Port Lucaya Square 7pm Friday Nov. 25th? Everyone! Young, Old, Black, White, Canadian, European...we want to see everyone with canned and bagged goods in hand ready to have a good time and be inspired by the power of working together for the good of all.

The list of performers continue to increase however, we are pleased to announce our list of confirmed performers;

Roachie - International recording artist and composer/ producer  (of Boom Pineapple Wine fame) will perform his original song of resilience after the storm; Champions Overcome.
Tony Lowe and Friends will perform his dynamic original composition of strength after the storm entitled; We Rise.
The Uppercut Band will play Music of today and and classics of yesteryear (multi genre) R&B, Pop, Island, Blues, Rock, Classics.
IMC Ministries Choir - Gospel
Bahamas Dance Theater is sending 2016 National Arts Festival Winner - modern/jaźz dance category - Raven Grant..
Ryan Carroll - Acoustic Guitar and vocals
Georgia's School of Dance and Theatre presents a special performance.
Strictly Strings - Classical music
Joseph Darville - Words to inspire and motivate.

The Genesis of this idea was sparked through discussions between  Sheena Miller, Entertainment & Marketing Manager at Port Lucaya, Mackey Media Ltd and The Uppercut Band. We discussed at length what we could do collectively to jump-start a 'Feel Good' return to normalcy while at the same time helping a worthy cause  and how the power of music, dance and words would be the perfect catalyst towards this aim.

Special thanks to our media sponsors; Dolly Madison Home Center, KFC & Pizza Hut's Add Hope & Deliver Hope, Freeport Advertising & Printing and TheBahamasWeekly.com. Together we WILL make a difference.

We also send thanks to Brooke Grant of the Brooke Grant Network and Steffon A. Grant of Conception Ink for contributing their expertise in Social Media and Art. Thanks also to Yolanda Hanna of YH Media for joining in with us to MC this event.
