After the sudden and mysterious death of the beloved Bahamian musical icon, Johnny Kemp in Jamaica last week, we have learned that he was supposed to join up with the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage which was at sea from April 11 - 19.
The cruise was said to host Jennifer Hudson, R. Kelley, Fantasia, Earth Wind and Fire, LL Cool, The Jacksons, and TLC. According to reports, Kemp's body was discovered floating off a beach on Thursday, April 16th.  "The police in St James have ruled out foul play in the death of R&B singer Johnny Kemp," said the Gleaner.

On that Tom Joyner Cruise, songwriter and producer, Teddy Riley paid tribute to the late Johnny Kemp. We provide here a video posted to Youtube by BlackAmericaWeb.com.

"There’s one thing that I want to tell everybody," said Riley.  "There was another surprise that was supposed to been here with us tonight. And he [Johnny Kemp] came all the way because  this is what he wanted. This is what he said to me, 'lil brother, I'ma make it. I really don't want to make it, but I am going to make it. I'ma be there.'  His last text to me was, 'See you in a minute. We are going to have a lot of fun.'"

"And he got here, he got to Jamaica," continued Riley. "When he got to Jamaica he was stopped, and it was only because of a few words that he said that revoked him from getting on this ship. I feel really bad, because he went out doing something that in making the attempt to do what he was born to do. He's a star, and now he's a star with our God. He's resting in paradise right now. Johnny Kemp was supposed to be on this stage next to me ... so, I want it to be like he is on this stage with me, right next to me...  We are going to celebrate him."
